Our Christmas Charities 2018
Every year the churches across the benefice choose local charities and organisations to receive their Christmas Giving and collections.
Giving is at the heart of our Christian life and we thank everyone for all they do and the sacrifices they make to support others in their community. To find out more about each charity, please click on the links in the text.
St Peter and St Paul was one of the first churches to hold a Christingle Service in support of the Children’s Society 50 years ago. Our continued support means that together we have helped more than a million vulnerable children and young people living with serious problems in their lives. Your contributions at our Christingle Service can help a child to feel safe this Christmas, giving them someone to turn to. This year worshippers gave £1139 to the Children's Society.
St Lawrence supports North Hinksey and Botley Primary Schools which are at the heart of our community and this year they, like many other schools across the country, are facing tighter budgets. We will be contributing a proportion of our Christmas Fayre proceeds and donations from our services to the schools to support their work and help them fund the people, materials and activities they need to nurture the children in our community. St. Lawrence gave each school £100 which they are using for essential learning materials.
St Frideswide & St Margaret have supported Home-Start Oxford for many years firm in our shared belief that every parent should have the support they need to give their children the best possible start in life. Home-Start Oxford celebrates 30 years of service this year and over that time they have worked with over 2,000 parents through trained volunteers and family support workers. Our Christmas fund-raising helps support their work and we hope that you will join us in continuing that collective effort. This year worshippers gave £520.
