New to Church?
Coming somewhere new is never easy, and it can take a while to find your feet in a new community, and in a new church. This section should give you a little more information about who we are, and how you can join us.
Where do services take place?
We have 4 churches across the benefice and our Sunday Services are held at different times in each one:
St. Peter & St. Paul, Botley 9.30 am
St Lawrence, North Hinksey 11.30 am
St. Frideswide, West Oxford 10.30 am
St. Margaret of Antioch has seasonal services
Some of our churches also have a short morning or evening prayer, and midweek services. Please see the section on Our Churches to find out which of our churches suits you.
What should I expect when I come to a service?
You will receive a warm and genuine welcome from our congregation and our ministry team. Our services are simple and inclusive, and include readings from the Bible, a sermon and hymns, We also make sure we include time in our service to pray for the needs of our community and the world.
After the service we serve tea, coffee and biscuits. This is a great opportunity to meet people, ask questions or ask someone to pray with you.
Are children welcome at your services?
Yes, we love to have families and young children, whatever their age, join us at our regular services.
Children stay with their parents during the service, but we know that little children can be restless and bored during a service - and that's ok!. At St Peter & St Paul Botley, and St Frideswide West Oxford there are break out areas with colouring and toys, so you will still be able to see, hear and participate in the service while your children are busy.
See the section Our Churches to find out about specific services for children.
Does it matter what I wear?
No! Please just be yourself and come dressed in your 'normal' clothes. Old churches are cold, even with heating on, so bring warm layers!
Do I have to join in?
Not at all! You are free to simply observe or participate as much as feels comfortable for you.
I have a few more questions, who do I ask?
