St Frideswide's

Botley Road, West Oxford

Who Are We?

We are the Anglican church serving the vibrant district of West Oxford and Osney Island.  We are part of the Osney Benefice, working in partnership with our next door neighbour parish, North Hinksey & Botley.

St Frideswide’s is dedicated to the patroness of Oxford. Since our church was founded in the nineteenth century, we have built up Christians in the faith through the celebration of the sacraments and the study of Holy Scripture.

You can learn more about out history here.

Open Church

During the week St Frideswide is open for visitors to pray, have some quiet time or explore. Winter opening times are:

Monday: 9.30 am -11.30 am

Wednesday: 10:30 am- 12.30 pm

Saturday: 10am- 12 noon

Sunday Worship

The church has a relaxed Anglo-Catholic tradition, and our regular worship at 10.30 am is focused on the Eucharist.  We are a small, friendly, all-age congregation who welcome regular, visitor and seeker alike.

All ages worship together with teaching and activities for children age 3+ during the sermon, and we have a dedicated area with a selection of baby toys and board books for the very youngest in our services.

. You can learn about our choir here.

Please see the side panel on this page for our regular service times, special services and other activities.

Baptisms, Weddings & Funerals

Our beautiful church is a public building, here for the community it serves.  If you live in our parish or have a connection with our parish, we welcome you to celebrate a baptism or to get married here. Our clergy are also available to conduct funeral services in the church or at the crematorium. Do contact us if we can help.
